Ingredients

Crust

  • 1 1/2 cup flour all purpose
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 tbsp. sugar
  • 12 tbsp. cold butter
  • 1/2 cup cold water

Fruit Filling

  • 3 large apples
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 2 tbsp. butter
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • pinch of salt

Instructions

Crust

  • Combine flour, salt, and sugar. Add grated butter. Slowly add cold water and knead with your hands until the dough comes together. Set in fridge while you do the next step.

Fruit Filling

  • Peel and dice apples. Mix the rest of the ingredients in with them.

Assemble Galette

  • Divide the dough into 6 equal parts and roll them out in 6 1/2 inch circles. Next drop 1/3 cup of the filling in the center of the galettes. Leave at least an inch and a half of the edge to use to fold up around the filling. Now start folding up the edges around the fruit filling creating pleats as you go all the way around it. Set the galettes on baking sheets lined with parchment paper and brush the dough with a beaten egg. Sprinkle sugar over the crust and fruit. Chill assembled galettes for 15 minutes in the fridge.
  • Bake at 350* for 55 to 65 minutes or until golden brown on top.
