Homemade almond butter is super easy to make with a ninja blender! Its healthy and so good for you, and you can use it for so many things! The recipe I make only takes 2 ingredients, and very little prep time!
Homemade almond butter is something you will want to keep in your fridge at all times! I personally LOVE almond butter! I eat it with my occasional smoothie bowl, and enjoy dipping sliced apples in it! Ooh this almond butter is SO MUCH BETTER than the stuff I’ve been buying at the store. I really wish I would’ve known about it sooner in my life. My recipe for Healthy Energy Balls calls for this butter, so if you like almond butter, you would love those too!
For this recipe, I just bought salted almonds from the local dollar store. I’m excited to try a higher quality of them because I can’t imagine that it can be much better than this, but maybe!
This almond butter takes a little longer to whip up then the peanut butter does, but if you have a powerful food blender it doesn’t take long at all!
Toasting the Almonds
Toasting the almonds gives it a yummy flavor that it otherwise wouldn’t have! I would totally recommend to do it, but you can also make almond butter without toasting them! Only toast them for about 10 minutes, and wait till they are totally cooled before you throw them in the blender.
Blending the Almonds
Once the almond are completely cooled off, its time to make your butter. I use a ninja blender to blend mine, but a food processor will absolutely work too! First the almond will turn into crumbs and soon into a thick paste! Stop the blender every minute and scrape down the sides.
After about 2 minutes, I like to add about a tsp. of coconut oil to it. I feel like with some almonds you would not need to add the coconut oil, but if it just isn’t turning into a thick paste soon, you might considering trying it! Before long you will see it turn into a thick paste at the bottom of the blender!
Keep on scraping down the sides, and after about 5 minutes, my almonds turn into smooth, shiny almond butter. You can blend it till its as smooth as you like it! Its so satisfying to watch, and I always feel so accomplished afterwards!
Let me know in the comments below if you tried it! I would love to hear from you!
