This pizza dough recipe is the most soft and fluffy of any pizza dough I’ve ever had! We have been using this recipe ever since I remember, and I’ve never had better! It has a secret ingredient that most pizza dough don’t get in them! You won’t ever go back to those cardboard thin crusts after you try this one!
Our family has a tradition that every Saturday night, we get together and eat pizza! The week is just not quite complete if we don’t have pizza and games at least once a week. We are a meat loving family, and so we always have the meat lovers pizza with piles of sausage, bacon and cheese!
This recipe is easy to throw together, and requires about an hour and a half of rising time before you bake it!
The Secret Ingredient:
The secret to this soft, fluffy, dough is mayonnaise! Yep that’s right! There are not many pizza crusts that get mayonnaise in them, but this one does!
STICKY DOUGH
There is also maybe something else that might concern you when you mix it up. The dough will be very sticky! Its not the type that gets flour until its stiff. You won’t even have to roll it out! You can easily shape it with buttered hands because the dough is so soft!
Do you need a pizza stone to make this pizza dough?
No, you absolutely can use any pizza pan or even a baking sheet to make this! I’ve actually found that it gives better results if you use a normal round pizza pan. If you do use a pizza stone, be sure that the dough is baked all the way thru since it takes a while for the pizza stone to get hot.
HOW TO MAKE THIS PIZZA DOUGH.
Step 1: You will want to use warm water, not hot, so that you don’t kill the yeast. Mix the yeast in with the warm water and let it sit for about 5 minutes so the yeast can dissolve. Next add the sugar, salt, oil, and mayo. Stir in the flour, and remember the dough is supposed to be very sticky!
Step 2: Transfer from your mixer to another bowl. Now cover it, and let it rise for about 45 minutes to an hour.
Step 3: Generously grease your pan or stone with butter. Butter your hands very well too, and press the dough into the pan! I now take a fork, and poke holes all over the crust so I don’t get any big air bubbles. Sprinkle garlic salt, parmesan cheese, and parsley over the crust. Let it rise another 30 minutes.
Step 3: Bake your pizza dough without toppings for about 13 minutes. (If using a pizza stone, you will have to bake it longer and at a lower heat unless you preheated the stone.) Take it from the oven, and add the toppings you like! Stick it in the oven again till the toppings get hot and the cheese melts. This recipe makes one large pizza.
